After waiting 12 months, tens of thousands of people were disappointed that this year's show had to be cancelled. Not because of the weekend weather, which was predominately sunny, but because of the deluge that had beset the area in the weeks leading up to the event.
We took our motorhome to a campsite on Thursday in the knowledge that there were people in other camp sites who had, and were, experiencing difficulty due to the mud and torrential rain.
Judging by the conditions of the car parks and airfield on Friday, when we witnessed them at first hand, RIAT were correct in cancelling Saturday then Sunday's events. RIAT has spent the last 12 months planning the show and had attracted different and varied aircraft. We really feel sorry for them and for the people who made the trek in vein.
The images below were taken on Thursday and Friday when it had actually stopped raining for a few minutes.
Great pics Barry, despite the rain. Apparently this is the first time in 38 years that the RIAT has been cancelled. Just one minor point, the Turkish C-130 is a C-160 Transall. Keep uploading you're in my favs list.
