Radio Astronomers erected the largest fully steerable radio telescope at the National Radio Observatory in Greenbank, West Virginia. Too bad they pay no regard to their optical astronomy counterparts with the use of massive amounts of unsheilded lighting to illuminate the superstructure at night. I understand that the amount of lighting may be cut back in the future, once the instrument goes into regular use.
