Exhaustion, The Citadel, Hue, Vietnam, 2007

There’s nothing like a cool wall and set of stairs when the temperature is pushing 90 degrees Fahrenheit with 80 per cent humidity. I made this image of a fellow tourist while visiting the vast Hue Citadel, Imperial City and Forbidden City. The photograph speaks for itself – any veteran tourist has been there.

She couldn't lift anything at this moment. And I can't blame her.

Oh yeah, heat and exhaustion will take their toll. She appears to be too tired to even lift her feet or her camera anymore.

Thanks Sandi and Jola -- as I noted, any veteran traveler has been in situations like this. One of the great strengths of expressive photography is putting the viewer into the shoes (or sandals in this case) of the subject.
