Dining alone, McCloud, California, 2008

I stress the solitary nature of this dining experience by isolating this figure eating at the counter of a small town coffee shop. I made this image through the front window, spot metering on the splash of light that illuminates his elbow. As a result, much of the image goes dark. It leaves him in silence, alone with his breakfast and his thoughts.

Glad you see this image as process, Jenene -- he is alone with his thoughts, but not lonely. The light sparkling around his elbow hints of energy to come.

It's a lovely scenario - the light first gently kisses the contemplative gentleman on the elbow as he gathers himself for another full day. Soon the light will wash over every inch and energize him and propel him forward...to come back and start the process over tomorrow. Jenene
