Cybister explavatus (sometimes known as Hydrophilius) - an aquatic carnivorous beetle from the La Brea Tar Pits, Kern County California (famous for its skulls and bones of Sabre-toothed cats and other large mammals). This specimen dates from the Late Pleistocene Age, 126,000-10,000 years ago. (Body length: 30mm).
