Stemonitis is a widespread genus of plasmodial slime molds (Myxogastria);
during the slime phase, all the nuclei share one amorphous blob (note the tracks).
When the local food supply runs out, the nuclei separate into cells and
differentiate into a mass of stalks and fruiting bodies.
