The start of the wild flower season in California. Photos are from most recent back to start of the first blooms I shot, starting March 1,2009. Each section is dated and local given. Along the way to wildflowers I run into other wildlife, the occasional seal and pelican as I did going to Lake Poway. I can never pass up a bug or a cute kid either. The latest series was taken on 3-19-09 at Placerita Canyon Park in Newhall Ca, I went there for the Woodpeckers but was rewarded with many varieties of birds and wildflowers, Thank You LIL for treating me to such a wonderful place.
My latest new wildflower location find was the Chino Hills State Park, what a stunning landscape to see up there, gorgeous rolling hills covered in mostly mustard and fiddlenecks but poppy patches can be found and if you follow the dirt roads you will find whole hillsides of lupines. One of the best places ever.
