Pleea tenuifolia

Tofieldia, Rush Featherling

An exciting find! This rare endemic, yet locally abundant wildflower grows along
these ecotones and wet savannas only in a few counties of the coastal plain. The
white starry flowers bloom near the ends of long narrow stems and typically blankets
the areas where it grows. When not in flower, it is recognizable by its leathery equitant
leaves, bright red at their bases. Listed in older books as the genus Tofieldia.
