Platanthera xbicolor

or Platanthera xlueri

I found this one yellow flowered plant. The flowers are very different in color
from the typical orange. It is a hybrid between P. blephariglottis and P. ciliaris.
When observed up close the flowers are bicolored with the broader portions pale orange,
the fringed portions white hence the name Platanthera xbicolor.
Also known in recent publications as P. xlueri.

Blooming time: July-September
Occurs: coastal plain
Habitat: savannas, wet roadside ditches, and meadows
A rather common hybrid where both parents are abundant.

other sizes: small medium original auto
