Baptisia cinerea

Carolina Yellow Indigo

Though common in the coastal plain of the Carolinas, this species has a narrow endemic only
from southern VA south into SC. The large, yellow flowers are very showy when in bloom(April-May).
Often misidentified as Carolina bush pea or Thermopsis, which only grows in the mountains and western piedmont.
