Welcher Bodengrund ist es denn nun genau? ADA Bodengrund von unserem lieben Freund Amano oder kann man den als Schüler sogar bezahlen? ;)

Das dürfte die Variante ADA AquaSoil "Malaya" sein. Für das Becken dürfte das wohl an die 30-40 Euro kosten wenn Du an den Bodengrund dran kommst, was nicht immer einfach ist.

ich finde diese Algenwiese wunderschön, habe allerdings nur Sand zur Verfügung.
Ginge dies dennoch oder wäre Sand als substrat nicht geeignet um einen solch wundervollen Teppich zu schaffen?

Kein Problem geht auch auf Sand. Die Mooskugeln nur vorsichig auseinander machen und auf kleinen Steinen mit Hilfe einer feinen Angelschnur aufbinden. Und dann Geduld haben kann locker 9 Monate oder mehr dauern bis der Teppich dicht ist.

Which is the right composition of the fauna in the tank.
For example:
FAUNA
3 Caridina Japonica
1 Small Ancistrus....
ecc...

I'am not responsible for the fishs in this tank, this have decide the staff from the aquarium store. But I would prefer: 3-4 Caridina, 1-2 Otocinclus and a small fish sort like small Rasbora or similar about 6-10 pieces.

Dear Tom,

thank for answer the question because of the bamboo.

There was a biological CO² from Hagen at this tank. Not much but enough. And I make every week about 10 Liter water change.

I put in this tank some Caridina because some snails have problem to climb on the bamboo. And at the beginning I had some problem with algea at the bamboo.

I also add some Tropica MasterGrow after water change at this tank, about 5ml.

I have seen that you put in the tank caridina japonica shrimp (2-3??) together with neritina natalensis snails. Did you do this because neritina natelansis were enough to control algae or for an other reason?

P.S: I have been using neritina natalensis for 2 years, and they have been a really good surprise :)

I'm not Oliver, but until we are waiting for his answer. I'll try to give you a help.
Before putting the bambu inside a tank, I put them inside the "branch sulfate" (this is the translation of italian word:"solfato di rame" , for 24 hours.
In this way, bambu become as silicon.

Hi Oliver,
great Tanks you designed. One question, I bulid a tank similar to yours just with 200 Liter three years ago with bamboo fixed in the gravel. But the bamboo started to rot after a couple of weeks. Obviuosly in your tank not, did you prepare the bamboo somehow?

Oliver sorry if I disturb you again, but I would like to know if has been used co2 and liquid fertilization for this tank during the six months, or the only fertilization has been the periodical water changes :).

Thank's Tom,

1. You can open the Claudophora balls with your finger, saftey like you peel a tangerine. Then I put on the pieces on some small stones and fix it (wrap around) with a fine fishing line.

2. Yes it is Salvina natans.

3.Sometimes there a tiny particle from different moss between the Claudophora. The Java Moss in the middle of the tank comes from alone after about 3 month. In don't remove them a let them grow.

The only words are : Oliver you are a genius.
Just 3 questions:
1. The natural form of claudophora is like a ball. Did you cut it as a carpet or did you put inside the soil?
2. Is Salvinia Natans the type of the plant on the top?
3. Did you insert a rock of vescicularia (Java Moss) in the middle of the tank? It seems so, if I look at the "6 mounths" picture

a good idea :-)

I have many ideas making very different aquarium layouts. The tastes are very very different...so some people like it...and some other not. But that's ok. One of my first goals when I set up tanks is not to bored the people. So sometimes you must have more courage to make new things !
