My contest tank for the International Aquatic Plant Layout Contest 2005.

Place: 10th

Hello Oliver, great tank! I am interesting in the exterior, that was done by a Frensh company. Do you know, what is the polystyrene (styrofoam) painted with? On one photo during decoration you was standing on it, so it has to be hard. Thank you. Best regards Robert

Das finde ich gut ;) Über eine Auflistung der Fische in diesem Becken würde ich mich freuen. Wie viele Neons leben da drin? Was mich auch interessiert ist die Dicke der Glasscheiben und die Unterkonstruktion: Steht das Ding wirklich nur auf dem Metallgerüst, das man auf den Bildern vom Bau des Beckens sieht? Insgesamt würde sich bei diesem Mammutprojekt eine Auflistung aller möglichen Daten lohnen, denn die Dimensionen sind doch für ein Aquarium sehr unüblich und schwer vorstellbar... In dem Becken waren mal an die 1000 Neon...leider haben in den 1,5 Jahren die Altum Skalare die Anzahl doch erheblich dezimiert. Die Dicke der Glasscheibe ist mir aus dem Stehgreif nicht bekannt. Das Becken steht wie auf den Bildern zu sehen nur auf dem Stahlrahmen was aber auch vollkommen ausreichend ist. Viele Grüße, Oliver Knott

Guest: Oliver - why such a big number of tubes, not HQI for example? A HQI or a other hanging lamp would be disturb the view to the decoration around the tank. It looks more impressiv if you can see any technical equipment over the tank. Best regards, Oliver Knott

Suit, the filter system is install under the tank. A special "Sandfilter" system like you normaly use for swimming pools. There is one big Dupla-Reaktor at the left side in the tank for the CO² and one CO² input directly at the one of the 2 sandfilter tanks (canister). Regards, Oliver

thanks for your answer. after the contest you have to tell us every step you used to build this huge tank... i'm dreaming how to create a similar one in my dreaming house! how is it possible put CO2 in this tank? how will it be the circulation of H2O? so, you have to tell us everything about this eihgth marvellous!!!

Guest: Vielleicht zeige ich ein paar Bilder in Kürze. Etwas Geduld noch. Ciao Suit: Yes it was a new experience, especially how to maintenance a tank in this size. Maybe I show some more picture soon. This was only "one" tank, the picture you see (the glas stribes inside) are special constructions to save the tank in the time when the silicon dry. I only use easy plants for this tank, like Echinodorus, Cryptocoryne, Microsorum...because of the big high of this tank...see more soon... Regards Oliver

hy oliver. great experience this one, isn't it? can you tell us more about it? choose of materials and dimensions, tipe of plants... obviously after the contest. i can't understand if it is a big tank or 4 cube. suit (from Italy: excuse my bad english)
