This is a dog that I found running loose and was very fortunate to reunite him with his owner after a couple hours. It's such a great feeling when you do things like that.
Rarely do you see a dog off the leash in our neighborhood so when I saw this dog running across my front yard I expected to see an owner running after him so I whistled to the dog and he stopped and walked towards me. I was able to pet him and saw he had a collar but no ID tag on him. I put him in our fenced in yard, gave him some water and started walking the neighborhood looking for someone who lost him.
Two hours later I still hadn't found an owner so I reluctantly called animal control. As I went outside to wait, I young woman pulled up with a relieved smile on her face. She had seem me driving around but we kept missing each other as we turned up and down streets.
It turns out that Kenai has a chip implanted in him so he would have found his way back to his owners eventually because the vet hospital where they take the strays from our town has a scanner.
