Historic Steam Shovel

This is a Marion Steam Shovel Model 91. Built in Marion, Ohio it now sits not too far from me.
The body is the size of a railroad car and the shovel weighs 94 tons. Steam shovels like this worked on the Panama Canal.
This "might" be the only one left in the world. You can read more here.

PS Notice the lack of snow on the ground...

other sizes: small medium large original auto

That is awesome! So is the story behind it. Are you prevented from getting any closer by that fence? This would be so fun to see and photograph.

Sure looks like a gigantic workhorse. Looks like spring is around the corner in your area.

Now that is pretty amazing, both the gigantic shovel and the lack of snow.

How interesting. Made me think of the old children's book "Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel".
