The Sun finally came out and it really looks like Spring. We've received "a lot" of rain over the past couple of weeks so lawns are very green and the trees are blooming out but unfortunately Lake Ontario is very high and flooding is occurring along the shorelines of both the lake and several bays in the area. On Jan of this year, a new "lake level" plan (Plan 2014 Lake Ontario) was implemented to regulate lake levels (and outflow through the St Lawrence River) and create more wetlands. Needless to say homeowners aren't happy with the levels but boaters and environmentalists might be. It's not a happy time as there is potential flooding all along the Great Lakes. The Genesee River, which flows into Lake Ontario is raging from the rain and snow melt. Flooding upriver is a concern as well. The Mt Morris Dam was completed in 1952 because of flooding. It's never overflowed so far and I hope it doesn't this time. The good news is there is no real rain in the forecast over the next 5 days. I am in no danger from lake or river flooding - just ever growing lawn that needs mowing soon!
