Almost Frozen Upper Falls

There was a corner of the falls that wasn't frozen. On the right side you can see the path up to the out cropping across from the falls. I walked up there and tried throwing a snowball across the falls, attempting to hit the bank on the left.
It's a lot wider than it looks (I looked it up when I got home and it's around 300 feet wide).
I wasn't even close :-(

The railroad trestle is about 230 feet above the river. It's slated to be replaced starting this year. It was built in 1875. You can read about the bridge project here. It just won't look the same without this bridge there.

Gorgeous winter scene! Sad to hear about the old bridge coming down, though. V

That is just amazing -- I didn't realize waterfalls froze solid in winter (but then, of course they would ;-)). Great capture, Patti.

An impressive winter scene. Kudos to you Patti for even trying such a throw.

I know I can't throw a snowball 300 feet! That's a LONG way~!
