Some of you may have seen this frozen fountain on TV. This is not the first year it has frozen but it got so much publicity because of the extreme cold month of February here. I did shoot this fountain back in 2011 and it can be seen here.
This year's height is estimated at over 50 feet (15 meters).
The fountain dates to 1860, when park founder William Prior Letchworth had it installed. The water that supplies the fountain is gravity fed from a spot near the Trout Pond about a half-mile from the Glen Iris. The fountain is rarely shut off as koi live in the pond year-round.
