What do you do when you wake up at 5AM, see that it's clear and the Moon is out? Most people would go back to bed which is what I did but I kept thinking I should go take some photos so I got up and went out in my backyard to capture this image at 5:30 AM. You should be able to recognize Orion in the lower right between the Moon and the trees. Unfortunately the Moon is blown out (over exposed) as this is a 30 sec exposure. Oh well practice is fun...
By the way it was 49F (~9C) out there this morning - not exactly warm for August!
We had clouds and rain for the Perseid Meteor showers last week and more rain predicted for later this week so as usual here any astronomy is tough.
