September 22nd, 2005. Composer: Tina Gordon. The Rambler Twelve Hour Composition was an amplified sound interpretation of the Sun's proximity to the Earth as expressed on the autumnal equinox, defining a relationship between light, sound, and the space they inhabited. This composition was expressed through the rise and fall of a symmetrical BPM (beats per minute) scale, synchronized to the Sun's 12-hour trajectory. It took place at Warm Water Cove (sunrise), Twin Peaks (mid-day), and culminated at Pacific Beach.
The music was composed by the "Universe", which was an ensemble of many, many local musicians and artists. The voyage took place on/in/around a mobile music venue, allowing for coordinated deployment of all of the above mentioned goodies. I'm paraphrasing quite a bit here, and I should not fail to mention all the auxiliary personnel who dedicated their time and efforts before, during and after the event in order to pull this thing off. This was an impressive undertaking, and best of all... it was free to the public, like all good art.
