The donkeys of the Maasai lead a carefree life, except when their nomadic owners
are on the move; then they carry the meagre possessions of the household on their backs.
Note the notched ears. Instead of branding with a hot iron, the Maasai show specific
ownership by cutting notches in the ears of their animals.
