A one week trip was extended to two when the ash cloud from the Iceland volcano blew over the UK. This provided for a wonderful opportunity which I had always yearned for, to explore the old island's countryside. This gallery is part of a story that is told in my blog: http://mkarstad.blogspot.com/2010/04/stranded-in-uk.html

This Pheasant was moments before it died. I found it in the yard and when we came back an hour later, it had been killed.

I found it very interesting that these canals passed right though the main part of the town -- they used to be the highway.
