Mt. Hibok-hibok, Camiguin - The Island Borned by Fire

"The Island Borned by Fire" as many people put it! Camiguin is a literally a hot plate with no less than seven volcanoes in the small island.
Mt. Timpoong, at 1450 MASL is actually higher than Hibok-Hibok, but
the latter has risen to fame because of its explosive history.

Five eruptions have been recorded since the 1827. The latest, in the early 1950s, killed 600 people...
Climbing Hibok-Hibok is quite challenging for a daytrip. It takes 3-5 hours to reach the peak depending on your pace - from Ardent Hot Spring.
But a more challenging trail is via Brgy Yumbing will lead you to a crater lake for the overnight stay where you can hear the voice of the wild animals:
wild boar, deer and rare birds before assaulting to the peak the next day.

In this volcanic island the " sidetrips" of the climb are remarkable where one can witness the unique ethnic festival,
experience beauty with its pristine beaches and taste its luscious fruits.
