Mt. Guiting-guiting Climb (Holy Week of 2010)

Mount Guiting-Guiting in Sibuyan Island, Romblon in Central Philippine is fondly called G2 by enthusiasts. 'Guiting-Guiting', in the local dialect, means "jagged".
It was discovered as a mountaineering hot spot during the early 1980s when the novel sport has just begun unravelling new and exciting destinations.

At 2,058 meters above sea level, G2 is one of the most difficult and technically challenging mountains (climbs) in the Philippines.
It stands out with Mt. Halcon (in Mindoro) and Mt. Mantalingajan (Palawan) as the country's hardcore peaks.
This is because of the steep, thin, jagged ridges which a hiker has to cross in order to reach the summit.
On top of this precarious trail, the weather is so volatile in this area that mountaineers should strictly observe cut-off time
(i.e. 1300H) in reaching the summit so they have adequate time way back.

Mount Guiting-Guiting has been considered as one of the most diverse forests in the world, where up to 54 endemic plant varieties can be found.
Moreover, G2 is home to fascinating endemic fauna. These include unique species of rodents and bats that were discovered in the mid-1990s
and can't be found elsewhere in the world.

On G2 trek, hikers can attest to this mountain's natural richness while test their stamina, perseverance and patience as well.
