U-Bahnhof Georg-Brauchle-Ring

Hanauer Straße / Georg-Brauchle-Ring, München, Deutschland view map

U-Bahnhof Georg-Brauchle-Ring (2003) is one of the most colorful and visually striking metro stations in the Munich U-Bahn network. The walls of this station were designed by Franz Ackermann. His artwork, titled "Die grote Reise" (The Great Journey), consists of 400 colorful rectangular metal plates in a mosaic of bright, contrasting colors. Black-and-white photographs and postcards are incorporated between the color panels. The rest of the station's interior has been kept very simple, precisely to draw all attention to the walls.
