The tunnel consists of two parallel tubes with a length of 426.5 meters. The tubes lie 24 meters below the water surface.
To save space, a unique concept without long ramps was chosen. Instead, gigantic vertical shafts with enormous elevators were built on both island sides. Cars, carriages, and pedestrians were brought down by elevators.
