Newport House largely dates from the late 18th century (circa 1785), built by the O'Donel family. They were the owners for nearly 200 years. In 1945, the house was sold and served as a country hotel, famous among fishermen for its exclusive fishing rights on the Newport River and Lough Beltra. The property is known for its magnificent Georgian interior, including an impressive staircase with a roof dome.
Update 2026: The estate is currently for sale, with an asking price of around €2,625,000. A unique aspect of this sale is that the exclusive fishing rights remain inextricably linked to the estate.
