This tower on the Kilmacduagh complex is simply known as the Kilmacduagh Round Tower. Due to its striking tilt, it has also been nicknamed the "Irish Tower of Pisa." At a height of approximately 34.5 meters, it is the tallest surviving round tower in Ireland. The tower leans more than half a meter (over 60 cm) out of plumb to the southwest. It is suspected that this is due to the unstable ground rather than a structural defect. The tower likely dates from the 10th century. Notably, the only entrance door is located no less than 7 meters above the ground, which served as protection against invasions at the time.
