Cemetery of the Kilmacduagh monastery

L4510, Kilmacduagh,Tawnagh East, Co. Galway view map

According to tradition, the cemetery contains the tomb of Saint Colman MacDuagh, the patron saint of the diocese who founded the monastery in the 7th century. Although the monastery itself is a ruin, the cemetery is still active and contains the graves and memorials of many generations of local families. The cemetery is surrounded by the remains of the so-called "seven churches".
