The Black Head Lighthouse in County Clare, situated in the unique limestone landscape of The Burren, is a striking white, square tower on the edge of the Burren, which was officially put into service on February 21, 1936. It is a freestanding, two-story square concrete tower approximately 8 meters tall. Today, it operates on solar power (since 1980) and emits a white or red flash every 5 seconds.
