Cliffs of Moher

R478, Knockevin, Lislorkan North, Co. Clare view map

These impressive limestone cliffs attract millions of visitors annually due to their spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2011, the cliffs have been part of the UNESCO-recognized Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark.
The cliffs stretch for approximately 8 kilometers and reach their highest point at O'Brien's Tower, where they plunge vertically into the ocean about 214 meters.
The name derives from the Irish word Mothar, meaning 'ruined fort,' referring to an old fort that once stood on the cliffs.
