The property is listed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH), the Irish national database for historic heritage. The current building dates from approximately 1860–1880. It is a characteristic example of a vernacular village house (folk architecture).
Originally built as a combined residential and commercial building, a common building form in Irish villages in the 19th century. For many decades, it has served as the local bakery for Eyeries. It is known for preserving traditional baking methods. In more recent history, its function was expanded to include a Tea Room (circa 1992–1994), making it a central meeting place for both locals and tourists passing the Wild Atlantic Way. More recently, around 2014–2015, the interior of the Tea Room underwent further modernization.
