The photo was taken from a small road named Ballydonegan Upper (between road R575 and the Cahermeeleboe road).
From this point, the colorful houses of the village of Allihies are visible, and behind them, the Slieve Miskish mountain range. This mountain ridge forms the backbone of the western part of the Beara Peninsula.
Allihies is known for its brightly colored houses, a tradition that has persisted after the copper trade left the area.
