St. Colman's Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Cobh, Ireland, owned by the Diocese of Cloyne, and is often considered one of Ireland's finest and most impressive Gothic Revival buildings. The cathedral features distinctive features of the rich French Gothic style, such as flying buttresses, gargoyles, and rose windows.
The original design was by renowned architects Edward Welby Pugin and George Ashlin. Later, Irish architect Thomas Aloysius Coleman was also involved in its completion.
Construction began in 1868 and was not completed until over fifty years later, in 1919. Delays arose due to rising costs and design changes.
