On Sunday August 23rd, 2009, in Krefeld, Germany a Rubber Duck Race was held. Races like this a fairly common in the world - just look up "Rubber Duck" in the Wikipedia! For those few (like me) not accustomed to these kind of races this is how it works: Rubber Ducks in thousands race on a water track to make out the winners; the ducks are marked with numbers, and people adopt one or several ducks for a small fee that is used for a good cause - so basically it's a fund raising event. But what a fun one!
This Krefeld Rubber Duck Race sported 5.000 ducks, of whom the first 156 were awarded prices (in addition to that also the two ducks finishing last). The race was accompanied by a Rubber Duck Beauty Contest - see the first two pics of this gallery.
