Consider to be one of the most grueling hiking trails. The yearly quota is around 5000 people a year. Among them, couple hundreds have different kinds of injuries, around 100 has to be evacuated. Fog, rain, dusty wind makes everything wet. The trail gets very slippery. Every step, rock, wooden board, ladder, leave brings danger that this is the last right step. There is no escape, everyone walks like on high hills. Some spice to the situation adds backpack, which always works against your balance. Fortunately beginning of the trails from km 0, are on flat terrain. But watch out for those roots.
If you like hike, you like different terrain, marine life, you want to experience difficulties of many ship survives, run away from the high tide, walk many kilometers in thick mud, there is no better adventure then WCT. After you’ve done that trail, you will be a proud hiker, the pictures and stories you will carry forever. You will even get a diploma of your accomplishment. Some people do the trail once, other show its beauty to their close people, some just go for the long camping close to Tekkanawa falls; few are on the trail regularly every year.
Not recommended are hiking boots with Vibram.
