Previous attempts to photograph Loons leads me to conclude they're extremely shy. It doesn't take much before they dive under the water and with their ability to stay submerged for long periods of time ... to resurface quite some distance away. However my luck changed this June in Lillooet when a male and female Loon were discovered hunting fish in a long Salmon Spawning channel about 25 - 30 yards wide ... even so it became a race to ... stop the motorcycle ... open the saddlebags ... unpack the camera gear ... approach the subject without frightening it ... adjust the camera settings ... focus ... compose ... focus again... and shoot.
