Great Horned Owls "2006"

On Feb. 15th.2006...A Great Horned Owl found nesting.
March 12th...an owlet can be observed...then shortly after a second owlet is observed. They are said to be 4-5 weeks old...in the first photos taken. Over the next few weeks many trips to the nest location has enabled me to photo the progress of this pair of "Great Horned Owlets"

...It is believed that this is the earliest known hatched Great Horned Owlets in Manitoba history...

April 1st...the oldest owlet has now fledged...leaving the youngest still perched in the nest tree.
April 6th...the youngest owlet perched alone in the nest tree.
April 8th...the youngest owlet now has fledged...the nesting tree is empty.
April 12th...The Great Horned Owlets...together again...perched in the late day sun...under Mom's watchfull eye.
April 16th...unable to locate any Great Horned Owls...
April 17th...unable to locate any Great Horned Owls...
April 18th...I walked the trees for the last time today...I knew the day would come when they would move on. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to view and photo one of Natures Great Owls and Owlets.

Beau, merveilleux ne sont pas suffisants pour exprimer ce que je ressens. Ce n'est pas une question de beauté mais plus de sensibilité à ce qui nous entoure.Je devrais être en train de faire mes courses, finir ma lessive et, littéralement, me décrocher de ma chaise mais c'est la nature que je veux regarder pour le moment. Le reste peut attendre.

Beautiful, fantastic are not sufficient to express what I feel. This is not a question of beauty but sensitivity to what surrounds us.I should be doing my errands, finish my laundry and leave my chair but it is nature that I want to look at for now. The rest can wait. I am going to steal one of your pictures and put it in my sunroom, one preferably that has water in the background. It's ok? Thanks!!! Mireille
