I saw an owl eating what looked like a bird in my pine tree late yesterday afternoon. I am trying to determine what type of owl. Based on your pictures it looks like it may have been a great grey owl. The bird was not as large as in your photographs, had vertical stripes in the front and white spots on it's back, the coloring was the same. Can you help identify or confirm if it was indeed a great grey owl? Also, I have been feeding a squirrel who lives in the pine trees; would he be prey for an owl? One last note....I live in St. James and across Ness Ave. is the Living Prairie Museum so am guessing the owl may have come from there. Thanks for any insight.
