Anderson Road-Draw, Grayson County

One of the oldest Steel Truss bridges still standing is located just east of the town of Van Alstyne in southern Grayson County. Built in 1886 by the Kansas City Bridge and Iron Company, this Pratt Through Truss Bridge is 115 feet long and spans an unnamed draw. Even though it is no longer open to vehicle traffic it is still in very good condition and amazingly still has it placards on it.

Anderson Rd., East of Van Alstine,in Grayson County, one of the last remaining OLD IRON bridges, has been replaced with a new concrete bridge.

Bridge has been relocated to Waterloo Lake Regional Park in Denison Tx 33°44'35.83"N 96°34'0.21"W

Current satellite photo shows a new concrete bridge at this location. Thanks again Ken, for saving a record of these rapidly disappearing wonderful old bridges.

Also I have another bridge in Grayson County that I took pictures of http://www.pbase.com/photos_by_moon/brewer_grayson it was open at the time I took the pictures, but wondering if this one still stands. Ken

Your pictures of the Anderson Bridge are gorgeous and so well taken that it takes one back in time. My sister and I do research for the Grayson County Genweb website. I read about this bridge at the McKinney Public Library yesterday and began searching online for additional info. I found your photos. There are GPS coordinates for the bridge location. However, I was wondering if I could use your pictures to go with the story that I will write. Of course, when I send the information to the webmaster of Grayson County, the photos will be credited to you. Thanks Patricia
