Historic Oregon City (at one time called Willamette Falls) at the "end" of the Oregon Trail. A picture of this area (in the McLoughlin House) from the late 1800s shows it already had many mills, I guess they were located here to use the power of the falls. A sign claims this was the first location of commercial long distance (Portland about 9 miles away) power transmission.
