Today, we headed for the west side of the park, crossing over the Continental Divide to the Kuwuneeche Valley and Grand Lake (just outside the RMNP). We stopped here on Trail Ridge Road and saw this large elk herd heading to high country. These are cows and calves; the bulls travel separately. We only saw small groups of bulls but not at locations where we stopped. They'll spend the summer up here before they head back to the valleys for the winter.
