Total Solar Eclipse - 2008 August 01 - Jinta.Gansu Province.China

CHINA

We went to western China to view this eclipse. The sky was clear and beautiful, and unlike eastern China, it was blue . . . with the exception of the lower portion of the sky in the direction of the Sun. Here clouds drifted by, at times covering the Sun. We held our breath and crossed our fingers, and all worked out. You can see how close the clouds were to covering over the eclipsed Sun from the last image in the gallery, which depicts the 3rd contact "Diamond Ring" effect.
