Here is an image of Venus, the bright one on the right, and the +1.4 magnitude star Regulus, on the left, with the Moon put between the two to show how close the two were. The (full) Moon I shot just seconds after the planet and star pair. The separation of the two at this time was slightly more the a half degree.
