Mars with JPL Simulation Chart - 20200923 @ 04:35 UT
West Des Moines, Iowa, USA
Both the seeing and transparency was extremely poor tonight, and all other nights this past month have been poor anyway, with Seeing always less than 2.0 and trans less than 1.0. Focus was very difficult and all I could see on the screen was a large round blob of dark features, and when the image first displayed on the screen while sending it through the PIPP software Mars was just a grainy orange smudge, but by the with the Registax wavelets some detail becomes visible, even the Valles Marinerism, also known as the "Grand Canyon of Mars" near the center of the image.
