Mars with JPL Simulation Chart - 20200916 @ 10:05 UT
West Des Moines, IA
Got up early to shoot Mars, set up the scope and quickly took this shot. I was going to do more but before I could the motor drive died. It had done this the day before and I had to make a solder repair. This time the plug was too loose so it came off, so I carefully bent the prongs, and now it might hold for a while.
But as remarkable as it was, this is my best shot of Mars ever. Compare it with the JPL chart and see how well they match up. The south polar cap has nearly disappeared (lower edge of disc).
