This photo shows at least 14 bald eagles as they overlook the Des Moines River and ready to swoop down to the river for a fish dinner. There were a total of at least 45 in the trees, at least 2/3rds were youngsters, who just like people, do not turn gray until their adult life, usually around 5 years old. It is good to see a thriving population of youngsters after being very high on the endangered list just a few years ago.
