My name is Shirley Sanderson. Use top skate at the Webster street rink. I moved on to Weymouth and won my singles title for the US and 2nd in pairs. I would love to know where Paul Pelland is in FL as I live in FL also, since 1991.

My name is Shirley Sanderson. I began skating on Webster Street. Use to play with Debbie Cohee. I moved on to Weymouth where my teacher, Dick Gori, groomed me to win the US singles title in 1962 and 2nd in pairs. Just seeing the above now. I live in FL and would love to know where Paul Pelland in FL as I read the history of the rink. I have been in FL since 1991.

I skated in the Webster Street Rink and was a skate boy in this rink in my teens. Lot of memories in this place for me, including my first kiss. :)

Wow! This is an old site! Even Jamie's is gone!I think Jim Plunkett opened this pictured rink, after the demise of the Webster St Rink. He was an original instructor on Webster St.

The FIRST rollerskating rink in Marshfield was off Webster Sreet, near the Webster Estate. The house and land were owned or leased by Mr.and Mrs.Vince Cohee, who ran Camp Daniel Webster in the summer Their kids were Doug and Jane Cohee, who became very good skaters and instructors, with Paul Pellan and others. The rink was made of a wooden roof, open screened sides, and a professional wood skatingfloor.(Roller skates had wooden wheels for wood floors.)Rental skates were available, also a small snackbar, and built in benches along one side(not for sitting when raining)Kids of all ages, including teens, participated. It was a very social scene all summer long..some of us, now in our 70's and younger, are still friends, and remembering those musical skating nights and rainy days.
