Baader is bad for IR. Better than the original Canon filter but bad as it cuts the IR a bit above 720nm.
Have a look at the different spectrum and transmission curves here:
http://astrosurf.com/buil/baader/eval_us.htm
and you'll see what I mean.
My 500D has the original filter replaced by a 700 nm filter and so is dedicated to IR.

hi,
i have a Canon 500d too.
im having a set of massa Infrared filters 720nm, 850nm & 950nm
th 720nm gives me a properly exposed image but not very white trees
& the 950 & 850 nm take around 1.30 mins to expose properly but that creates a lot of noise
