The Irish Bishops' Conference has accepted the offer
of the Jesuit community at Paray-le-Monial, France
to make available the relics of St Claude La Colombičre

The special occasion is the sesquicentenary (150 years) of the extension
of the Feast of the Sacred Heart to the Universal Church by Blessed Pius IX in 1856.
The visit will take place from 14th June to 21st July 2006.

painting of St Claude La Colombičre is based on an earlier portrait
done during his own lifetime. However, the original image at the right,
of Jesus holding his heart in his hand, was already in the Gesů,
or Church of the Holy Name in Rome, the Mother Church of the Society
of Jesus, a century before the occurrence of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart
to St Margaret Mary Alacoque in France.
