Finally...a free weekend! Flew to Orlando, rented a car and drove north along Highway A1A to St. Augustine where I stayed for the night. The town was still lit up beautifully (last weekend for the Christmas season) and I walked about leisurly taking in the sights. In the morning, I enjoyed an amazing tour of The Castillo de San Marcos. St. Augustine's a wonderful city and I will return to explore it thouroughly. Returned to the Daytona area and drove on the beach and walked the boardwalk and then enjoyed a visit with family. We traveled along the Halifax River to Flagler Beach for a wonderful dinner. In the morning, we toured the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse (received a certificate from my brother to document my "203 step climb-to-the-top"...thanks, Marty!), had a late lunch on the St.John's river and returned to Orlando airport. Ta-da! A wonderful trip planned on short notice with family, beautiful scenery and weather. Life is good!!
